Marijuana Legalization Stopped By Lamar Smith (R-TX)

Republican Texas Congressman Lamar Smith has said that his committee will not even consider the Barney Frank – Ron Paul marijuana legalization bill. Few would expect the bill to pass but forcing a vote would go a long way towards seeing where everyone stands and could really shake up many 2012 campaigns. By refusing to consider the bill, Smith is completely dismissing the concerns of millions of citizens.

The Representative’s ridiculous statement:

“Marijuana use and distribution is prohibited under federal law because it has a high potential for abuse and does not have an accepted medical use in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration has not approved smoked marijuana for any condition or disease.

Decriminalizing marijuana will only lead to millions more Americans becoming addicted to drugs and greater profits for drug cartels who fund violence along the U.S.-Mexico border. Allowing states to determine their own marijuana policy flies in the face of Supreme Court precedent.”

Call and write to the Congressman and tell him not to ignore the honest concerns of his fellow Americans:

You know I thought America was suppose to be a country where the people made decisions for themselves, But sorry , up tight politicians , like yourself always wanna be the one ass that sticks out among the rest. Why doesn’t America let every state make their own laws on Marijuana, We have alcohol thats legal thats killed millions, how many countless people have died from tobacco? Now then name one person we died as a direct result of marijuana use. go ahead, tell me. No! the truth is that if we legalized marijuana it would be cutting in on all the tax money we spend on keeping non-criminals locked up and fighting the non-winnable drug war. people are going to do what they want, naturally and for you and a bunch off your old friends that are still trying to censor human behavior like we are living in the 1950’s is ridiculous. Drug cartels making more money with it legalized? Do you have to graduate high school to become a politician? They would be cut the hell out, WE tax it, WE sell it, making billions of more dollars for y’all to swindle into your own private accounts. Come on people wake up America, its 2011 not 1929, stop letting rich old men run the lives of millions. We need to mange our country better and trying to stop every single little crime is absurd.

I couldn’t agree more. You are 100% correct. And to add to your statement.

The current marijuana laws have advocated everything that Lamar Smith claims the legalization laws will advocate. Having the drug illegal leads to more addiction because you’re treating the problem as a criminal justice problem when is a health issue. Also, the drug cartels thrive off illegal distribution. If legal distribution were available then they would innovate their product and sales to beat the drug cartels.

So.. Thanks to guys such as Lamar Smith, people have the complete opposite perception of marijuana. OLD MEDIA MUST DIE and people should get there info online. Its the only way to stop the misconceptions created by new corps about many controversial issues

  5. SeriousTroll says:

I’m mad at this. What kind of bullshit is it to just dismiss the concerns of the people you represent? Because you’re not for it? WE DON’T GIVE A FUCK WHAT YOU WANT!!! Seriously we could care less where you stand we just signed the petition for what we want you selfish ass hole.

  6. Crackalackin says:

How would legalizing marijuana help the cartels gain money? Seriously, i thought you had to be smart to be a political figure.

  7. Eeko211 says:

Yea,, It is supposed to be…. BY THE PEOPLE… FOR THE PEOPLE. Let us (The People) have a chance to vote on it!!

  8. Matt H. says:

Lamar is retarded. Cannabis use has clearly helped medical patients across every reformed marijuana law state. It actually slows down the process of some cancers and does no harm to the human body. If you look at it every single presidental candidate has admited to doing some kind of drug within 3 to 5 years before their term started. Who agrees that hypocrites and only hypocrites are running “The peoples” country right now?
